MIGLIA
La Mille Miglia è stata la gara automobilistica più affascinante del mondo. Nata a Brescia nel 1927 per
iniziativa di un gruppo di amici, percorse per 1.600 Km (mille miglia, appunto) il nord e il centro Italia,
con partenza da Brescia fino a raggiungere Roma, per poi tornare a Brescia. Una sfida sulle strade, una
scommessa, quasi una follia. Presero parte alla gara mediamente 390 equipaggi provenienti da 22
nazioni, 50 case automobilistiche e fu seguita con grande passione da milioni di spettatori assiepati
lungo il ciglio della strada.
Antrodoco fu protagonista della Mille Miglia in ben nove edizioni, dal 1949 al 1957. Questa curva,
situata al Km 1,100 della strada statale 17 gestita dall'Azienda Nazionale Autonoma delle Strade, ha
visto transitare campioni del calibro di Alberto Ascari, Gigi Villoresi, Juan Manuel Fangio, Clemente
Biondetti, Eugenio Castellotti, Stirling Moss e Piero Taruffi vincitore dell'ultima Mille Miglia del 1957.
Oggi questa curva parabolica viene restituita a pieno titolo, grazie alla partecipazione dell'ANAS,
dell'A.S.I. (Automotoclub Storico Italiano), della 1000 Miglia e dell'Associazione Nazionale Amici delle
Strade, alla storia dell'automobilismo mondiale e alla Città di Antrodoco, che condivise con
entusiasmo gli effetti di questa bella ed irripetibile leggenda.
The Mille Miglia was the most attractive sports car race in the world. The entire project was the
brainchild of a group of friends of Brescia in 1927, the race track covered 1600 kilometers - exactly
1000 miles - in a circuit starting from Brescia, crossing Italy from north to center, reaching Rome,
and then returning to Brescia by another route. It was a road race, a gamble, almost madness. Over
the years, 390 teams sponsored by 50 automobile factories from 22 nations took part in the race,
which was followed by millions of passionately fans.
During the race the crowd lined up along the side of the road along the race track.
Antrodoco took part in the race nine times, from 1949 to 1957.
In the Antrodoco track there was a particular parabolic curve, at 1+100 km, along the state road no. 17
(S.S. 17) managed at that time of the race by Anas SpA.
On its race track Antrodoco during the years saw drivers champions such as Alberto Ascari, Gigi
Villoresi, Juan Manuel Fangio, Clemente Biondetti, Eugenio Castellotti, Stirling Moss and Piero Taruffi,
winner of the last race in 1957. Today, this part of the road, although no longer open to traffic, can be
fully appreciated and commemorated, thanks to ANAS SpA, A.S.I. (Italian Veteran Car and Motorcycle
Club) and 1000 Miglia Srl. Antrodoco can now share the history of world motor racing and recall with
pride the most exciting moments of this unique race.
